Whilst on parental leave in 2019, founded as a health and safety thought leadership blog by internationally leading Health and Safety specialist Sarah Cuscadden, In Her Boots is provokes thoughts on all things health, safety, technology and capability building. Sarah’s vision is to help organisations create innovative and safe operations. In Her Boots has pioneered concepts such as the Chief Safety Officer as a Service (CSOaaS) and Safety Sessions and Learning Labs with adaptive learning technologies.

A massive consumer of salt and vinegar chips and spicy margaritas, avid listener of electrical dance music and basking in the sun - often known for doing all four at once with Nathan, Sloane and Leila, her husband and two daughters.

Sarah Cuscadden is a GAICD-qualified HSE executive with two decades of progressive leadership across energy, construction, and global e-commerce, currently leading the HSE team for Australia's largest energy generator. Sarah has been at the forefront of industry and safety change, and is not affraid to challenge the status quo. She has demonstrated rare dual authority in both operational HSE excellence and technology innovation, a pioneer, having conceptulised and lead teams who built patent-pending AI/ML safety solutions at scale. A learner and curious person, Sarah expanded her leadership across complex regulatory approvals, environment and cultural heritage for ASX listed companies. Recognised nationally and internationally through fellowships, board-level governance roles, and awards including the NSC Rising Star and AFR Young Executive of the Year finalist, she operates credibly at Board level and across global executive stakeholder environments. Her expertise spans the full energy asset lifecycle — from multi billion dollar renewable construction and thermal decommissioning — positioning her as a rare strategic authority at the intersection of decarbonisation, operational risk, and safety culture transformation.
