National WHS Supply Chain Leader | David Jones & Country Road Group
Committed to creating a culture beyond compliance and ensuring that safety performance and practices are continually improved, Adam identified the need for mature systems, and a culture where safety was everyone’s responsibility.
Initiating a pathway to improve safety resilience within the supply chain and operations warehouse teams, Adam provided his team with three capabilities:
1. Ensuring they had an understanding and appreciation of all aspects of management and the systems in place. This enabled them to make informed decisions (not just from a safety perspective).
2. Problem solving and decision making abilities and tools to assist with this.
3. Change management skills, to enable them to understand the impact of change and how to make positive change.
As a result of this, Adam’s team have been able to create businesses that demonstrate the need for improvement of safety within the supply chain that exceed legislative requirements and create best practice.
A program of work that was aimed to upskill the safety team has reaped rewards for those working in the warehouse: “Employees feel that the business demonstrates a massive commitment to continually improving worker health and safety. The culture and atmosphere has improved, and it is happier place to work.”
