As HSE Manager at Probuild Constructions, following several serious incidents, it was clear to Kate that a greater level of consultation and review was required for complex and high-risk activities. To foster collaboration between subcontractors, the project team and Senior Management, Kate introduced High Risk Workshops. The purpose of these workshops was for the project team to participate in a detailed risk review process presenting to the Senior Leadership Team prior to the activity occurring.
Overcoming a steep learning curve and significant change, the project teams quickly recognised the value in this process. Bringing together all the stakeholders to work collaboratively enabled prompt rectification and change of any methodologies and controls measures.
Proud of the presentations they were putting together, the High Risk Workshops brought teams together, improved workplace culture and generated improved health and safety outcomes.
βThe level of detail that was provided reflected a true risk management process and hearing the teams voice the benefits of undertaking these proved to be a positive outcome.β
