Is the ritual of safety moment at the start of every meeting impactful, engaging, behavioural changing? Yes or No?
Yes.
How are safety tips delivered in the corporate environment?
At the beginning of every meeting we would take a safety moment even just to check in with everyone to see how they are if it wasn't a specific safety topic.
How are safety tips delivered in an operational environment?
Toolbox talk.
What's the best safety tip you observed and why (was it how it was delivered, the operational context? the impact, etc)
We went through j&j safety training and I found to personalize it. Taking accountability for your safety and those of others. If you saw someone doing something that wasn't safe having a conversation with them and really drilling into them that you care.
Your personal view. Is it time to ditch safety moments in the corporte setting?
No! While doing safety moments in corporate may seem annoying once you start to do them routinely it becomes easier to talk about. If we didn't have one we would even go around the room just checking in with people and sometimes you found out someone was going through something and that's why they may not have appeared "present" in the meeting. Allowing the person to someone's get that off their chest allowed them to focus on what was happening in the meeting.
Your top three tips for delivering an impactful and engaging safety moment/tip.
1. It needs to be relevant to the audience.
2.Personalize it.
